A man was arrested Saturday, June 27, after he allegedly used a BB gun to shoot two men at a naked bike ride event in downtown Los Angeles.
The shooting was reported at 11 a.m. at Temple and Alameda streets, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Charles Miller told City News Service.
Two men suffered lacerations and were treated at the scene, Miller said. He did not know whether the victims were taking part in the festivities.
A man, whose name was withheld, was taken into custody, he said.
A reporter’s call to the police department’s media relations line seeking more details Saturday evening went to a voicemail system that did not accept messages.
A photo from the scene on KTLA-TV showed dozens of people riding bikes while naked downtown. The event was reportedly part of World Naked Bike Ride Day. It wasn’t clear if the ride continued after the men were injured.
The naked bike rides “celebrate cycling and the human body and demonstrate the vulnerability of cyclists on the road … and …protest against car culture,” the organizers’ website stated.
