A man was arrested in King City on five counts of attempted murder recently.
King City police were dispatched to an alleyway behind the 600-block of Meyer Street on Monday just before 4 p.m. where there was a report of shots fired according to a press release from the department.
When police arrived they found evidence of a shooting and located the victim’s car. It was occupied by five people, none of whom were injured. Police used video surveillance to identify the suspect and his car. They found the suspect’s car on the 700-block of Talbot Street.
The King City Investigations Unit obtained a search warrant for the house and were assisted by the Salinas SWAT team, the Greenfield Police Department and the Salinas Valley State Prison’s Investigative Services Unit. One person was located, arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail on five counts of attempted murder.
King City Police have been dealing with a number of shootings this year, including a mass shooting in early March that killed four and injured seven more, and what they believe to be a related double homicide in February where two cousins were gunned down “execution style”.
Police are now saying the crimes are likely gang-related. However, none of the victims in these crimes have been gang-related according to police.
