Man called Hitler Mussolini wins local election

Peruvian man named Hitler Mussolini has been elected mayor of a small Andean district after winning a local election by a narrow margin on a left-wing party ticket. Hitler Mussolini Sime?n Flores, 45, won the mayoral race in Queropalca, a district in the province of Lauricocha in the Hu?nuco department north of Lima, running for the centre-left Ahora Naci?n party. He received 229 votes ? 34.5% of the 663 valid ballots in Queropalca ? ahead of his closest rival, Gaspar Benilde Osorio Zambrano of the Popular Renewal Peru party, who took 204 votes, or 30.8%. The district has an estimated population of just over 730, according to 2024 official data. Sime?n Flores also manages the Simeon Sac investment group in Pillco Marca, in the same department. The vote was part of regional and municipal elections held across Peru following right-wing firebrand Keiko Sof?a Fujimori's victory in the country's presidential election. This is not the first time a Hitler has won over the voters in the South American country. Centre-right We Are Peru party's Hitler Alba served as mayor of another small Andean town of Yungar between 2011 and 2014. In 2018, he went up against Lennin Vladimir Rodriguez Valverde, who tried to challenge the validity of his candidacy. Alba won against other candidates, garnering 47.7% of the vote.

A man named Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores has been elected as mayor of a town in Peru.

The candidate, who stood for the centre-left Ahora Nación party, won 34% of the vote in Queropalca, a remote district in the Peruvian Andes.

In total, 229 residents out of 700 voted for the 45-year-old, with local media reporting that the top three candidates were separated by just 42 votes.

The newly elected mayor, whose unusual forenames are those of two notorious fascist dictators, was born in the central department of Huánuco, 224 miles from the capital, Lima, according to his candidate profile.

In 2018, another Peruvian politician called Hitler won a mayoral election in the district of Yúngar, beating a candidate named Lenin.

Hitler Guesclin Alba Sánchez defeated Lenin Vladimir Rodríguez Valverde in the contest.

Alba told broadcasters during his campaing ‘I’m the good Hitler,’ according to local media.

Meanwhile, in Namibia, politician Adolf Hitler Uunona won his fifth consecutive local election last year.

Uunona, who received 85% of the vote in his constituency, has previously explained that he did not understand the significance of his name as a child.

‘As a child I saw it as a totally normal name,’ he told the BBC.

He later told German newspaper Bild that his father had named him after the Nazi leader, but probably did not understand what Adolf Hitler stood for.

‘It wasn’t until I was growing up that I realised: This man wanted to subjugate the whole world,’ he said.

‘I have nothing to do with any of these things.’
