Video: Bears K Cairo Santos, Packers WR Matthew Golden appear to exchange cheap shots on punt return

On a play almost certain to be reviewed by the NFL, Bears kicker Cairo Santos appeared to stick his leg out in an attempt to trip Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden on a punt return in the Bears’ 31-7 loss at Lambeau Field on Sunday.

A clip circulated by Fox after the game showed Golden running into the Bears’ sideline after his 17-yard punt return late in the first quarter. He bumped someone on the Bears staff and sent that person to the ground, then when he ran back toward the field, Santos kicked at his feet.

Here’s the video:

Neither player has commented on the play, but in both cases, it appeared to be avoidable.

Santos had a rough game, missing his only field goal, a 43-yarder early in the third quarter with the Bears down 20-7, while Golden finished with six catches for 123 yards and returned two punts for a total of 27 yards.

The game was a mess overall for the Bears, who went into Green Bay as favorites, but fell behind 14-0 early and never recovered as they suffered their worst loss since Week 2 of last season.
