A man was filmed apparently chasing police down the street wielding a chainsaw in a shocking incident.

The man holding a power tool sprints down the residential street behind an officer in a high vis vest, before around a dozen officers are then seen arresting the man.

A force car can also be seen crashed in images from the scene this afternoon, the Scottish Sun reported.

The street was locked down and people were urged to avoid the area in Scotland ‘following a disturbance’.

Police Scotland Renfrewshire and Inverclyde said on social media: ‘Glasgow Road in Paisley is closed between Buchlyvie Road and Allanton Avenue following a disturbance.

‘Officers are at the scene.

‘Please avoid the area. Drivers are urged to use an alternative route.’
