Police are conducting a death investigation of a man who died after being found shot and stabbed in a South Loop fire, according to Chicago police.
Officers responded to a call of a fire at 5:11 p.m in the 1300 block of South Wabash Avenue and found the man who had been shot in the head and cut on his neck, police said. The man, who was also suffering from smoke inhalation, was taken to Northwestern Hospital where he later died.
A weapon was recovered at the scene, police said. No one is in custody.
