A man was in serious condition after being stabbed during a fight Thursday night near Buckingham Fountain in the Loop.
Around 11:40 p.m., a 23-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were walking near the fountain in the 500 block of South Columbus Drive when someone approached and an argument turned physical, Chicago police said.
During the fight, the man was stabbed in the neck with a sharp object, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was in serious condition.
The attacker fled north on Lake Shore Drive, officials said.
Area detectives were investigating.
