President Trump’s Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin announced Friday that he has added 43 Chinese companies to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List, which DHS describes as “a list of entities in Xinjiang that mine, produce, or manufacture wholly or in part any goods, wares, articles and merchandise with forced labor.”
Mullin wrote: “@DHSgov will ensure their products do not enter our country,” and noted in a press release that “187 entities will be on the Entity List, a 30% increase in the number of entities listed and the single largest-ever expansion of the List.”

The 43 new entities span a variety of industries including metals, pharmaceuticals, food, and apparel. One is the fashion brand Septwolves.

ChaCha Foods, which sells snacks — mostly nuts and roasted seeds — is also on the list. Below is a commercial featuring Santa Claus putting ChaCha gifts under the tree.
According to the DHS list: “The United States Government has reasonable cause to believe, based on specific and articulable information, that Chacha Food sources agricultural products including red dates, seeds, and nuts from the XUAR.”
There are reportedly about 12 million Uyghurs, mostly Muslim, living in XUAR, the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

The BBC reported: “China has been accused of committing crimes against humanity and possibly genocide against the Uyghur population and other mostly-Muslim ethnic groups in the north-western region of Xinjiang.” China denies all allegations of human rights abuses in Xinjiang.
