President Trump’s billionaire real estate developer son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who has been serving as a U.S. envoy in negotiations involving Russia and Ukraine, is being criticized for suggesting that Ukraine’s refusal to cede territory demanded by Russia is preventing a peace agreement between the nations. Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, initiating the ongoing war.
Kushner said: “Putin’s laid out his line of what he wants to achieve. If Ukraine, you know, wanted to withdraw to that line, then obviously, you know, we have the rest of the deal set up and put together. Ukraine right now does not want to do that. And obviously our job is to come up with a creative solution that doesn’t violate their desires and helps them achieve their objectives, and does in a way that we can get Russia to end the conflict in a way that hopefully, you know, allows both parties to move forward in a framework that where this doesn’t happen again.”
Retired Army Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, who briefly served as President Trump’s National Security Advisor during his first term in the White House, responded on social media: “Hey Jared, how about you tell your father in law, @realDonaldTrump that we (the United States of America) stop funding Zelensky and that we also make stronger economic and political demands on the EU and NATO as well. Perpetual war only benefits mortuaries and manufacturers. Stop pretending like you understand global diplomacy or better yet, go in front of Congress and tell us what you and Witkoff are doing. Going on podcasts and Fox News isn’t like being placed under oath.”

Flynn added to his post, “Lastly, and so far, the ‘peace deals’ you’re involved with are not working. The Middle East is [in] far worse condition and last night alone Russia launched close to 700 drones and missiles (LAST NIGHT!!!). Stop the funding and you’ll see Marshall [sic] Law Zelensky’s tune change overnight. Smart strength and effective diplomacy with real influence comes with acts of tough love. It’s time for the U.S. to demonstrate tough love.”
Alexander Khara, a former senior advisor at Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, replied to Flynn: “Your level of ignorance equals the level of Jared’s naivety. However, both of you are accelerating the U.S. decline and the advent of the so-called multipolar world. Putin is happy that his investment is paying off.”
