MLB sets postseason schedule, which could include Cubs, White Sox

At the pace the Cubs and White Sox are going, both teams could make the postseason in the same full season for the first time since 2008. On Monday, MLB released when those games would be played.

The American League and National League wild-card series are scheduled for Sept. 29-Oct. 1. The division series are slated for Oct. 3-10 and the championship series Oct. 11-20. The World Series is set for Oct. 23-31.

The Cubs and Sox played in the wild-card round during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, but no fans were in the stands for either series. The Cubs lost to the Marlins in two games, and the Sox lost to the Athletics in three.

Neither team won their first-round series in 2008, either. The Cubs, who had the best record in the NL at 97-64, were swept by the Dodgers in the division series. The Sox needed a one-game playoff against the Twins to win the AL Central, but only after needing to beat the Tigers in a makeup game. They lost to the Rays in the division series in four games.
