Modi Slammed for Commenting on Disputed Reports of Ukrainian Drone Attack Near Putin Residence

After Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with U.S. President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday to discuss Zelensky’s 20-point peace plan proposal, Russian outlets reported that Ukraine launched a drone attack near the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Ukraine has denied the attack — Zelensky called the claim “typical Russian lies” — and accused Russia of trying to derail Ukraine’s peace talks.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi responded to the alleged drone attack on social media. Modi tagged Putin and wrote: “Deeply concerned by reports of the targeting of the residence of the President of the Russian Federation. Ongoing diplomatic efforts offer the most viable path toward ending hostilities and achieving peace. We urge all concerned to remain focused on these efforts and to avoid any actions that could undermine them.”

Pro-Ukrainian politicians and political pundits around the world are replying to Modi including Derk Boswijk, a member of Parliament in the Netherlands who wrote: “I am more concerned about the daily attacks on innocent Ukrainian families who never wanted this war, unlike the resident of the property in question.”

Brigid Laffan, Irish political scientist and Emeritus professor at the European University Institute, replied to Modi: “you believe Putin’s lies but do not condemn the nightly attacks on Ukrainian civilians. You disgrace your country.”

Alexander Kokcharov, the Geoeconomics Analyst for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia for Bloomberg (based in London), also replied to Modi: “Were you equally concerned when the Russian drones hit the Cabinet of Ministers in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, in September 2025? This was an actual attack. Unlike the fake allegation made up by Russia.”

Stanford University’s Michael McFaul, who served as the United States ambassador to Russia from 2012 to 2014, wrote: “Putin lies all the time. His claims must always be verified.” McFaul also queried the masses for evidence, writing: “If any independent sources confirming the attack on Putin’s residence, please post links. Thanks.”
