DETECTIVES have renewed an appeal for information over a woman shot dead on her doorstep in a case of mistaken identity 30 years ago today.

Cops believe it was a contract killing with Karen the wrong target in Woking, Surrey.

Two weeks before the shooting they had stopped a car, whose driver fled, and found a pistol and map to the estate where Karen lived.

Officers think it was the driver’s first attempt at carrying out the assassination.

Karen’s killer was never identified and cold case review cops say they are still “determined” to nail him.

Det Chief Insp Gareth Hicks said: “Somebody out there knows who killed her — whether it’s the individual who pulled the trigger, or those who were assigned to arrange this contract killing.

“We urge them to come forward so justice is done.

“Karen had absolutely no involvement in criminal activity.

“She was an innocent young woman who was loved by those who knew her.”
