Overnight lane closures coming to 210 Freeway in Azusa

Lanes of the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Azusa will be shut down for striping and other work during overnight hours beginning Wednesday.

The closures will take place from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday and during the same hours the following night.

According to Caltrans, up to two eastbound lanes will be closed from Irwindale Avenue to Vernon Avenue along with the on-ramp to the eastbound 210 from eastbound Irwindale Avenue and the off-ramp from the eastbound 210 to eastbound Vernon Avenue.

“The project will replace the pump system on Route 210 at Vernon Avenue overcrossing,” according to Caltrans spokeswoman Katie Rivera. “Additionally, this project will install additional storage, upgrade the pump control system, and improve electrical service to increase capacity for the new pumps.”

Those living or working near the freeway “may experience noise, vibrations and grinding associated with construction activities,” Rivera said.

The $12.16 million project will continue through next summer.
