After Donald Trump forked out $20 million to refurbish Washington DC’s Reflecting Pools, the iconic landmark is already filled with algae.

The President has been vocal about the renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting pools this past month.

The government announced it was fixing leaks in the pool’s granite foundation and coating it with a bright blue cover ahead of the 250th anniversary of the US.

But after the project was finished earlier this month, it appears to already have some issues – the glaring one being that it’s bright green.

This weekend, the National Park Service were working to clear lumps of algae from the still water.

Part of the renovation was an ‘advanced nanobubbler technology’ which works to produce small gas bubbles to control algae.

It’s unclear if the ‘nanobubbler’ has issues or if the algae have bloomed thanks to the high temperatures in DC.

‘The algae is dead and being vacuumed up as we speak,’ the government said, adding, ‘We thank President Trump for fixing the Reflecting Pool for good.’

The reflecting pool renovation was just one portion of Trump’s overhaul to help America celebrate its 250th birthday in July.

In a very Trumpian turn of events, DC saw an Ultimate Fighting Championship event on the White House lawn this weekend.

He also wants to mint $1 coins with his face on them, which is in violation of an 1866 law that bans a living person from appearing on US currency.

And last but not least, a brand new ‘Independence Arch’, which has already been nicknamed the ‘Arc de Trump’.

Trump hopes to build a 250ft arc in the style of the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris – one foot for each year America has existed.

There are also hopes to transform the historic National Mall into a race track, passing the Supreme Court and the Lincoln Memorial.
