Schoolboy, 13, rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by car near Asda as cops launch probe

A BOY has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car on his way to school this morning.

The youngster, 13, was seriously injured after the smash in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Emergency services were raced to the road, near Asda, around 8.45am.

Footage of the scene showed emergency services scattered across the road with a rescue helicopter nearby.

West Yorkshire Police is now probing the smash.

The force said: “Police received a report of a collision on Asdale Road, Wakefield, at 8:26am this morning involving a car and a pedestrian.

“The pedestrian, a teenage boy, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“The road is currently closed while enquiries continue at the scene.”
