Shock moment festival brawl sees thug smash bottle over reveller’s head in violent ‘onslaught’

A MAN was filmed being brutally bottled over the head at Notting Hill Carnival, capturing the moment there was “blood everywhere.”

The violent incident occurred on the Monday, following the attack of mother Cher Maximen and top chef Mussie Imnet, who both later died of their injuries.

The video shows the man being attacked with a Hennessey bottle

Carnival Security attempted to break up the fight

The attacker struck again when security was distracted

The gruesome footage depicts a carnival attendee being attacked with a glass bottle, which supposedly struck him at least twice on his head, before he was wrestled to the ground.

A spectator who witnessed the incident and asked to remain anonymous told The Sun: “It was scary – there were too many people crammed with no escape routes.

“This wasn’t a normal punch up; the guy was literally getting battered.

“There was blood everywhere.”

Multiple men grappled with the target and then stamped on him after he was thrown to the ground.

A sinister picture was described of how other revellers stood and recorded the viscious event instead of intervening.

The observer continued: “Rather than get help everyone was standing there filming – and the music continued.

“It was an onslaught – you could see there was hostility – then the guy in the punk smashed a Hennessey bottle on his head.

“It looked like they were friends at first – and then it just kicked off.”

There was no police presence as the disturbing scene unfolded, according to the source, which continued even after the wounded man was pulled away by Carnival Security.

He was brought to a space behind a metal barrier which was less crowed with observers peering through the fence.

In the video, a man in black and a security officer wearing a red bucket hat hold the victim back from his attackers – who looks visually distressed.

When the officer reaches down to pick up a phone the injured man is reaching for, an attacker takes another swing with at him the glass bottle.

The Hennessey bottle lands on the back of the mans neck as he looks down at the phone and is received by screams from witnesses beyond the barrier.

“They got him out of the crowds in the safe space and the guy took another opportunity to smash another bottle on his head.”

The video ends with the metal fence pulled wide open and the casualty escaping into the crowd.

There were supposedly no police officers in the area, situated on the outskirts of the carnival route, which became of one of the many sites of violence throughout the weekend.

Cher Maximen, 32, was knifed in front of her three-year old daughter on the Sunday in Golborne Road.

She was stabbed in the groin whilst attempting to save another man from being attacked and later died in St Mary’s hospital from her injuries.

This follows the death of Gordon Ramsay-trained chef Mussie Imnetu, 41, who was found unconscious on the bank holiday Monday in Queensway.

Imnetu died a day before Maximen from ‘catastrophic brain injuries’ after being headbutted and punched in the head.

The source who witnessed the filmed bottling told The Sun: “It’s just a volatile environment.

“Too many people crammed with no escape routes.”
