Police officers and the driver they pulled over are recovering at hospitals after the traffic stop turned violent late Thursday in Roseland, police said.
Around 10:30 p.m., officers stopped a 22-year-old driver in the 9700 block of South Princeton Avenue when he resisted arrest, reentered his vehicle and tried to flee, Chicago police said.
The driver then crashed his vehicle into a ditch, and threatened and assaulted two officers before he was arrested, police said.
The officers were injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment, officials said.
The driver was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital for observation.
Charges were pending.
