Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates, Don Scott, joined fellow Democrats in celebrating the passing of a resolution on Tuesday enabling the redistricting of Virginia’s congressional map, potentially adding four Democratic seats.
Scott wrote on social media: “Tonight, Virginians sent a message heard across this country: we will not let Donald Trump or MAGA Republicans rig our democracy. This started in Texas when Trump launched an unprecedented power grab to rig the midterms and tonight Virginia voters ended it and voted YES to stop.”
GOP political strategist Chris LaCivita, who served as a senior advisor and co-manager of President Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, replied to Scott with a series of pointing-fingers emojis and wrote: “spent 7 years in a federal pen for selling crack.”
[NOTE: In 1994, at the age of 28, Scott was arrested on federal drug charges and served seven years in prison. He eventually graduated from law school (LSU), passed the Virginia Bar exam, and won his first election in 2019, to represent the 80th district in the Virginia House of Delegates. President Joe Biden pardoned Scott for the offenses in January 2025, after he had served his time.]
Scott replied to LaCivita: “And I am winning now and you hate it! Well, get used to it. And I keep kicking you and your minions [expletive]! Jason freaking Miyares and AC Cardozo [sic] -the JV! Eat another L while you hang out with MAGA [expletive].”
