The White Sox estimated that the game Monday night at Rate Field against the Angels will start at 9:40 p.m. after a storm swept through the area. First pitch originally was scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
After heavy rains this afternoon, the grounds crew removed the tarp at around 2 p.m., and both teams went through batting and fielding practice. The Sox also held a Dog Day parade around the warning track.
But after 6 p.m., the Sox announced the start of the game would be delayed because of an incoming storm. They estimated that the rain would clear after 8 p.m.
Murray did more damage than the Sox were expecting, and his loss reduces their flexibility. He had played in seven games in left field, three at shortstop and three at third.

Forgive White Sox left-hander Anthony Kay if his rhythm is a bit off. He has alternated starts and appearances that follow an opener. He has pitched on four, five and six days of rest.

The Sox went 4-for-33 in the series with runners in scoring position after going 1-for-8 in the finale. On the bright side, right-hander Sean Burke dominated, going a career-high 7⅓ innings.
