The White Sox put newly acquired catcher Joey Bart on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left hand after he was hit by a pitch Thursday in Boston in his third appearance since being acquired at the trade deadline. Back up to the big club is Edgar Quero, owner of a miserable .194 batting average and an even worse OPS of .492. Bart is out indefinitely.
Also sidelined after appearing in the finale in Boston — a 12-11, 13-inning wild one as the home nine completed a three-game sweep — is lefty reliever Chris Murphy. He goes to the 15-day injured list with a flexor strain. The Sox recalled right-hander David Sandlin, their No. 7-ranked prospect according to MLB.com.
