Woman dies at Aldi supermarket after collapsing in front of shoppers

A woman has died at an Aldi supermarket after collapsing in front of other customers.
Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to the store in Worcester shortly after 3.15pm on Thursday.
The woman, aged in her 70s, was found in a critical condition before medics began attempts to revive her.
A defibrillator was also fetched from the Toby Carvery nearby but she was declared dead at the scene.
Police have said the woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious and nobody else was involved.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: ‘We received a call around 3.15pm yesterday afternoon (3 September) with concern for the welfare of a woman in Aldi on Bath Road in Worcester.
‘Officers arrived, and despite the best efforts by emergency services, a woman in her 70s was sadly declared dead at the scene.’
West Midlands Ambulance Service said: ‘We were called to a medical incident at an address on Bath Road in Worcester and sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance to the scene.
‘On arrival, a woman was found in a critical condition.
‘Sadly, despite best efforts from crews, nothing could be done to save her, and she was confirmed dead at the scene.’
Aldi said it was ‘saddened’ by the incident but hailed colleagues for responding ‘immediately’ in distressing circumstances.
A spokesperson said: ‘We are deeply saddened by this incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the customer at this incredibly difficult time.
‘Our colleagues responded immediately to the situation, and we are incredibly proud of our team for their swift actions in such distressing circumstances.
‘We are offering support to the colleagues affected.’
