A 43-year-old woman was killed after a vehicle struck her on Sunday night on the Near West Side, police said.
Around 9 p.m., police responded to a car accident in the 10-100 Block of South Ashland Avenue. A 17-year-old female driver told police she was traveling eastbound on Ogden Avenue in a silver SUV when she hit the 43-year-old woman crossing the street against the signal. Police said the woman sustained head trauma and was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.
A witness told police that the teenage driver had the right of way because of a green light, police said.
No citations are pending and Area Three Detectives are investigating.
