Chicago police are looking for at least two men responsible for the armed robberies of three women, including two Sunday, prompting increased increased patrols in the Lincoln Park area.
The robbers, one of whom carried a gun, have confronted women who are alone on the street and demanded their jewelry, including rings, during the middle of the afternoon, occurring most recently Sunday in the 2200 block of North Halsted Street and in the 1800 block of West Larrabee Street between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m., according to a community alert issued by police.
On Thursday, another woman was attacked in the 300 block of West Webster Street about 2:15 p.m.
One of the robbers is described as being about 5-foot-10 with a heavyset build, wearing a gray ski mask, a black T-shirt and black pants. The other is shorter, about 5-foot-7, with a medium build wearing a black mask, a dark hooded sweatshirt and wielding a black gun, police said.
Chicago police confirmed that special attention has been placed in the area, including an increased patrol presence, 43rd Ward Ald. Timmy Knudsen said Monday.
