Cristian Romero was spotted screaming and celebrating in Jordan Pickford’s face seconds after Argentina scored the goal that helped send England crashing out of the World Cup.
The Three Lions were minutes away from booking their place in the final on Wednesday night until Enzo Fernandez’s wonderful strike from distance levelled the contest.
In between the two goals, Tottenham defender Romero was involved in an incident with England goalkeeper Pickford that was captured on video by an Argentina fan in attendance, shared by Argentine outlet TYC Sports.

As Fernandez’s shot hit the back of the net, Romero immediately rushed over to the goalkeeper and began celebrating and shouting in his face as Pickford punched the turf in frustration.
Argentina will meet Spain in the final on Sunday as they look to defend their title as world champions.
England’s 60-year wait for a World Cup triumph goes on having also tasted defeat in the last two European Championship finals.

‘We struggled to get pressure on the ball. Especially first half and start of the second half, we pressed them well, we put them under loads of pressure high up the pitch which then allowed us to win balls and control the game a bit better,’ captain Harry Kane said post-match.
‘After the goal, whether it was them putting more men forward or us not being able to match them man for man, it was just wave after wave.

‘Lads were putting blocks in but, in the end, it just wasn’t enough.’
“We felt it. We felt them going backwards and backwards rather than going forward. Sometimes when you are winning, you have to go forward anyway. You can’t change the gameplan. I think they did it and they put extra defenders.”
