Bukayo Saka played just ten minutes of Arsenal’s Champions League draw with Bayern Munich before hobbling off with an injury Mikel Arteta described as ‘concerning’.

The England star went down in pain after a cross-field pass and immediately gestured that he would need to come off.

Arsenal’s medical staff treated Saka briefly before the 25-year-old hobbled off and was replaced by Eberechi Eze.

Eze, who received criticism after Arsenal’s win at Nottingham Forest at the weekend, made an instant impact, latching onto Martin Odegaard’s superb through ball and beating Manuel Neuer to put the Gunners ahead.

Bayern Munich was level before half-time, however, as Alphonso Davies took advantage of an equally brilliant pass from England captain Harry Kane to slot past David Raya.

Kane put Bayern ahead on the hour mark, converting from the spot after Jurrien Timber conceded a penalty for handling the ball while blocking a shot from England’s record goalscorer.

But Declan Rice ensured Arsenal returned from the Allianz Arena with a point, scoring an 82nd-minute equaliser for the Premier League champions.

While Arsenal will be pleased with their evening’s work against the German champions, there will be concern for Saka after his early withdrawal.

‘We lost Bukayo who was having a great game and we had to adapt,’ Arteta said in his post-match press conference.

‘They [Arsenal’s medical staff] are a bit concerned. Whenever a player has to come off with sharp pain, it’s never good news, but we’ll have to wait and see.’

After Saka hobbled off, Arsenal legend Martin Keown said on TNT Sports: You hope it’s not serious but I fear that the thigh muscle has gone. It could be a big problem. It’s worrying.’
