Bears QB Caleb Williams wins NFC Offensive Player of the Week

For the second time in his career, Caleb Williams is the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Three days after he beat the Falcons in his return from a three-game absence because of a torn hamstring, the Bears quarterback won the award Wednesday. He went 30-for-36 for 305 yards, one touchdown and a 111.2 passer rating against the Falcons. He went a whopping 24-for-24 from a clean pocket.

Williams last won the award in Week 3 last year, when he posted a 142.6 passer rating in a home win against the Cowboys.

Before that, the last Bears quarterback to win the award was Justin Fields after he ran for 178 yards in a game in 2022.

Williams and Jay Cutler have each won the award twice. No Bears quarterback has ever won the award more than twice.

Williams said Tuesday he didn’t attach any special meaning to the game, his first back since Week 2.

“I’ve had some pretty cool games in my career,” he said. “It was cool getting back. But I think it was just kind of another game for me.”

The Bears host the Patriots on Thursday night.
