Three people have been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot and thrown from a car Tuesday afternoon at an intersection in west suburban Bellwood.
Bellwood police responded at about 3:20 p.m. to the 1000 block of 22nd Avenue after receiving a report of a male who had been shot and thrown from a car, according to a police news release.
Bellwood Fire Department took the boy to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:34 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which listed the incident at 22nd Avenue and Van Buren Street. His name was not released.
Three people remain in custody and investigators have executed search warrants, police said.
Police continue to probe the shooting.
