Ian Maatsen’s father has slammed Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly et al and is keen for his son to turn his Borussia Dortmund loan into a permanent deal.
It has been nothing but disaster since BlueCo took control of Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in 2022 with the club massively struggling on the pitch ever since.
Chelsea’s owners have spent over £1 billion on players, sacked two head coaches, endured protests from fans and have made a series of public gaffes.
Maatsen’s dad has now directed his own criticism at the Chelsea hierarchy and has publicly accused them of putting money above the club’s interests.
‘Things are not going well at Chelsea since they changed ownership,’ Maatsen’s father told Dutch outlet Voetbal International.
‘A lot at that club also revolves around money, which sometimes seems more important than the club’s interests.’
It was reported last month that Maatsen had told Chelsea that he wants to join Dortmund on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

The left-back, who is thought to have a release clause of €35-40m, joined Dortmund on loan in the January transfer window and the German side are thought to be desperate to keep him at the Westfalenstadion.
‘We are working on staying at the club [Dortmund],’ Maatsen’s dad added.
‘The clubs have to fight it out among themselves. Ian is developing well here.
‘We have more options besides Chelsea and Dortmund, but Dortmund has proven to be a good restart. And look which guys come from there… [Jude] Bellingham, [Erling] Haaland.’
Maatsen spent last season on loan at Burnley, helping Vincent Kompany’s side secure a league title as he was named in the Championship Team of the Season.
Chelsea wanted to sell Maatsen last summer and even accepted a £31.5m bid from Burnley before he snubbed a permanent switch to Turf Moor.

The west Londoners were again open to a sale in January but Maatsen ended up moving to Dortmund on loan.
‘I always believed [I could] play for Chelsea but unfortunately for some reason it didn’t work out how it should’ve,’ Maatsen said earlier this year.
‘Now I’m here I’m very grateful for the opportunity. I can say I’m very proud of myself.’
