Back in 2023, Angel Reese led the LSU Tigers to their first-ever NCAA championship by beating Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Three years later, Reese could reunite with one of her former LSU teammates via the WNBA Draft.
The Chicago Sky was tied for the worst record in the league last season, so they had a chance to get the No. 1 pick. However, the Minnesota Lynx had the right to swap their pick due to the 2024 trade that allowed Chicago to draft Reese.
Luckily for the Sky, they also had a pick swap with the Connecticut Sun from the Marina Mabrey trade last year. The Sky now has the fifth overall pick in a stacked draft, as per Tankathon.

Sporting News’ David Suggs released his latest WNBA mock draft, with the Dallas Wings snubbing Azzi Fudd and drafting Awa Fam with the No. 1 pick. The Lynx are predicted to pass on Fudd as well and pick Olivia Miles, with the UConn Huskies star dropping at third to the Seattle Storm.
With the fourth pick, the Washington Mystics are tipped to draft their need rather than the best talent available with Kiki Rice over Lauren Betts. As for the Sky, they are projected to draft LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson.
“Angel Reese’s progression as a passer was a godsend for the Sky, who boasted perhaps women’s basketball’s worst backcourt in 2025. The Sky will get reinforcements in the form of Johnson, Reese’s old college teammate,” Suggs wrote.
Johnson was described as a “dogged defender” who will help the Sky become a more athletic team compared to last season. She’s a capable playmaker who can make life easy for Reese, as well as Kamilla Cardoso.
The guard is coming off a down senior campaign, averaging 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game. She shot 46.5% from the field, including 39.3% from beyond the arc. LSU was eliminated by Duke in the Sweet 16, with Johnson scoring 13 points in the final game of her college career.
Reese Wanted to Attend Howard University

The Sky star was in attendance for HBCU Awarefest in Atlanta earlier this week. Reese revealed that she initially wanted to attend a Historically Black College or University, mainly Howard University, before joining Maryland.
“I always wanted to go to Howard, but I also wanted to play in the Power Five, so tough decision,” Reese said, via Miami Herald.
Being from Baltimore, attending Maryland was an easy choice for Reese. But after two seasons for the Terrapins, she entered the transfer portal to join LSU. She helped the Tigers win a national title in her two seasons there.
