Conor McGregor still on the booze despite imminent UFC return but Irishman has set teetotal date ahead of Chandler fight

CONOR MCGREGOR is still enjoying a tipple – despite the official confirmation of his long-awaited comeback fight.

The MMA superstar will be back in the octagon on June 29 in the main event of UFC 303 in Las Vegas, where he’ll throw down with Michael Chandler.

But he’s still enjoying a cheeky drink or two before delving into training camp, which he seemingly plans to begin next week.

Along with a snap of himself and music sensation Justin Bieber, McGregor wrote on Instagram last Sunday: “My brother Justin Bieber, the Mac has your back for life!

“From Beverly Hills to the Bahamas! See you in Vegas bro, it’s game on, the Mac is back!

“Five more nights on the delicious and then that be that see ya’s tonight I’M NOT F***NG LEAVING.”

McGregor, 35, hasn’t set foot inside the cage since breaking his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier nearly three years ago.

The Irishman has undergone a painstaking rehab to get himself fighting fit and is champing at the bit to get back inside the octagon.

And he plans to deliver the “greatest comeback of all time” by wrapping his previously-injured leg around the jaw of fellow fan favourite Chandler.

The UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight world champion recently told James Corden: “I am Terminator now.

“I have a titanium rod that goes into the knee and down to the bone, right down to my ankle.

“It’s unbreakable.

“I wish for and I will work for landing this kick with this steel bar in my leg against an opponent and getting them out of there.”

He added: “I want to see a picture of myself in the octagon with my leg broken.

“And then I want to see a picture of myself in the octagon with my leg wrapped around my opponent’s neck or head and putting him out and side by side.”

UFC president Dana White admits a win for McGregor would be spectacular considering the severity of his injury.

The 54-year-old said: “I think when you look at that injury, it’s happened in the UFC [before].

“We just saw Chris Weidman come back, Anderson [Silva] came back; you’ve seen it in [American football.

Inside McGregor’s Notorious lifestyle

With more sides to his personality than an Octagon, Conor McGregor’s rise has been an enthralling watch.

Going from UFC icon to entrepreneur and Hollywood star, the Irishman has transcended the sport he helped bring to the masses.

He has four children with fiancee Dee Devlin and the family enjoy a lavish lifestyle.

McGregor has not fought in UFC since breaking his leg in a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in 2021.

That has not stopped him amassing a net worth of over £150m thanks to his Proper No Twelve whiskey and fashion line.

And he is due to return to the Octagon at UFC 303 in an eagerly-awaited headline clash with Michael Chandler.

McGregor also starred alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the Amazon Prime remake of classic movie Road House, although he is dreading his mum seeing one X-rated scene.

Notorious turned up to the premiere in a £60,000 suit that was outdone by his £460k watch.

The only thing sharper than his fashion sense is his tongue and the Dubliner has several bitter spats under his belt, including with UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.

That row led to one of his biggest controversies in 2018 as he travelled 3,000 miles to confront Khabib in a vicious attack on his bus.

He pleaded guilty to assault after punching a man in a pub in 2018 and had his £150k Bentley seized by police for driving offences four years later.

Joe Rogan lashed out at McGregor in a four-letter outburst and the Irishman has also fired shots at Jake Paul, KSI and Tommy Fury.

Boxing great Floyd Mayweather also has McGregor on his enemy list after the pair clashed in a cross-sport bout in 2017.

“It’s probably one of the nastiest injuries you could possibly get.

“You see guys with broken arms all the time and stuff like that happens.

“It’s hard for us humans to wrap our brain around that bone breaking.

“It’s a nasty injury and it’s a rough recovery. And it’s a rough recovery too

“Who is the [American] Football guy who did it too? Whatever his f***ing name is.

“Anyway, if you saw the piece they did on him trying to recover from that injury, it’s pretty nasty.”
