Dan Hurley’s wife is Andrea Hurley, and these two have been married for nearly 40 years, so at this point, they pretty much know everything about each other. Hurley and the No. 2 seed UConn Huskies go up against the No. 3 seed Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday, April 4, in the Final Four.
Ahead of the game, an inerview with Andrea is surfacing where she shares some personal, and quite funny, stories about the head basketball coach. It’s all in good fun, and the way she shares these facts, it’s obvious that these two are perfect for each other and still have love for each other, even nearly 40 years into their marriage.
Going into the game, it’s worth noting that predictions are even on who will take home the prize. In a Saturday, April 4 feature packed with predictions on the UConn vs. Illinois game, John Leuzzi of USA Today notes, “When these two met in late November at Madison Square Garden, UConn won by 13. While the margin of victory may not be like that this time around, the Huskies do get their second win of the season against the Illini.”
But, Matt Glenesk of the outlet disagrees. “There’s something about Illinois’ offensive firepower and wave of big bodies they can throw at opponents that has me convinced of an All-Big Ten national championship,” he states.

Late in 2025, ESPN shared an interview with Andrea where she talked about her husband. In a clip posted to social media, she’s asked who’s the boss at home, and she answers, “Oh, me. No doubt.”
In the clip, she also says that he doesn’t do much of anything around the house. “Nobody would believe it,” Andrea said, adding that Hurley’s job is “going to work. That’s it. I’ll take care of everything else.”
She added that Dan “trips over the garbage. Take the garbage out. ‘Does Jay Wright take the garbage out?’ That’s the line I get. That’s what I get.”

Finally, Andrew dropped a fun fact that Dan can’t even order takeout on his phone if she’s not around the help. “When I leave to go to Jersey, if I’m not there for the night, he can’t even order food on his phone,” Andrea said in the chat. “He’s useless. He better do this job, right, because other than that, forget about it.”
Followers shared their thoughts on social media. “Smart man,” one said with laughing faces emojis. “Pretend not to know anything so the wife (thinks) she has to do everything for his survival vs. telling her to do these things and get pushback and rejects the idea of taking care of the house.” Another added, “That’s a Jersey girl, she runs the place.”
So, it’s funny that Dan can’t seems to work his way around everyday life tasks, yet he’s leading the UConn Huskies through a storybook 2025-26 season. But, when the games have wrapped up, maybe he should help his wife a little and take out the trash.
