Five-star quarterback Elijah Haven is entering a pivotal stretch in his recruitment, and Alabama Crimson Tide football is firmly in the mix as decision time approaches.
According to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman, Haven plans to announce his college commitment within the next four weeks, as one of the nation’s elite players draws closer to closing down his recruitment.
After leading Baton Rouge Dunham to its first state championship in more than 20 years, Haven briefly shifted focus to basketball. Now, his attention is fully back on football, most importantly, where he intends to play college ball.
“I’m definitely starting to narrow it down,” Haven told Rivals. “I’m gonna have my commitment within the next four weeks, and I’m super excited about that.”
Alabama Football Trending for Elite QB
Momentum appears to be building for Kalen DeBoer and the Tide football, which has positioned itself as a serious contender in Haven’s recruitment.
The five-star quarterback has already visited Tuscaloosa multiple times and is scheduled to return for A-Day, which would be his fourth trip since October.
Haven and his family have been especially attentive to how programs have maintained relationships through coaching changes. For Alabama, the transition from former quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan to new QB coach Bryan Ellis has not slowed momentum.
In fact, Haven indicated the opposite.
“My family and I think so highly of the program,” Haven said. “Honestly, I feel like they didn’t miss a beat. I met Coach Ellis, and he’s a great guy and a great coach.”
That consistency has helped Alabama remain near the top of Haven’s list, with the program continuing to emphasize transparency and access throughout the process.
Georgia, Auburn, and Kentucky Still in the Hunt
Alabama still has plenty of competition for the elite playmaking quarterback.
Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs continue to stand out due to their stability and consistent messaging. Haven noted that Georgia’s coaching staff has remained steady, which resonates with his family.
“Coach Smart is a great coach. What you see on TV is what you get in real life,” Haven said, emphasizing the program’s authenticity and developmental track record.
Meanwhile, Alabama’s in-state rival, Auburn, under new head coach Alex Golesh, has made a push for Haven.
Kentucky is also wiggling itself into the Haven recruitment, leveraging strong relationships and a vision for building a new culture. Offensive coordinator Joe Sloan has been a longtime connection for Haven, while Will Stein has made a strong impression during in-home visits.
Final Takeaways for Elijah Haven and Alabama
With a commitment expected before the end of April, Alabama appears to be in a strong position for one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class.
Still, with key visits to Georgia, Auburn, and Kentucky looming, Haven’s final decision remains fluid.
If DeBoer can close on Haven, that would be three consecutive recruiting cycles where Alabama has landed a five-star quarterback, signalling DeBoer’s elite QB recruiting efforts.
