Harry Maguire’s mum has been left ‘absolutely disgusted’ with her son being left out of England’s World Cup squad by Thomas Tuchel.
The 26-man group heading out for the United States, Mexico and Canada will be officially confirmed on Friday morning but a spate of leaks have revealed a host of stars have been axed.
Before any official news dropped, Maguire himself revealed he had been dumped by the England boss on Thursday evening with the Manchester United defender venting his frustration on social media.
‘I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision,’ Maguire said.

‘I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years. I wish the players, all the best this summer.’
His mum’s Zoe echoed those sentiments, writing on Z: ‘Absolutely disgusted.’
Replying to her son’s social media post, she added: ‘You couldn’t have done anymore. Hold your head high …Disgraceful.’
While the official squad list is still to be announced, leaks would suggest Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, John Stones and Dan Burn have been selected ahead of Maguire at centre-half with Levi Colwill of Chelsea also left out.
Maguire was a pivotal figure for England under Gareth Southgate, part of the defensive unit that saw them reach the World Cup 2018 semi-final and the final of Euro 2020. He also started every game at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, missing the Euros in 2024 through injury.
The first-half of his domestic season was interrupted by injury but following Michael Carrick’s appointment at United in January, he was an almost ever-present figure in his starting XI.
The former Leicester City star has missed just two games since mid-January, both of those through suspension, starting every other match.
His form helped United secure Champions League qualification and a third place finish in the Premier League.
