How Old Is Vaibhav Suryavanshi? Plus 5 Little-Known Facts

The T20 cricket season is in full swing with the IPL 2026 tournament fully underway. The third match between the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings features one of the youngest and greatest cricket players to ever strike a knock in Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Some may be surprised at just how young Suryavanshi is. The RR phenom’s birthday is March 27th. In 2026, Suryavanshi turned 15-years-old.

Suryavanshi is one of the youngest players to ever participate in a professional sports league, cricket or otherwise. However, here are five other things you probably didn’t know about him.

1. T20 Cricket Player Suryavanshi Signed IPL Deal at Record Age

Suryavanshi may be 15-years-old today, but he wasn’t discovered yesterday.

Prior to the 2025 IPL auction, Rajasthan Royals secured the services of Suryavanshi for INR 1.1 Crore ($162,240 CAD) at the tender age of 13-years-old. By signing that contract, he became the youngest player to ever earn an IPL deal.

2. Suryavanshi Has Two Childhood Cricket Heroes

In an interview with JioStar, the 15-year-old revealed his cricket heroes.

“I saw both, Brian Lara and Yuvraj Singh, finish matches single-handedly,” Suryavanshi said via The Tribute India. “If they were in, there was no chance for the opponent to come back into the game, and that was something I really liked about them.”

He also revealed what his goal is for the season.

“When I was picked, my only goal was to give the team a good start,” Suryavanshi said. “I wanted to play my game in the Powerplay, and if I got a good start, I wanted to continue and play long without giving my wicket away. I knew that if I played my shots, the scenario of the game would change, because chasing 200-plus runs would not be easy for any team.”

“This season, the goal is to win the trophy for the team.”

3. Suryavanshi Already Has One of the Fastest Centuries

The 15-year-old has yet to play 10 IPL matches, yet he already has the second-fastest century in the history of the IPL.

While Chris Gayle holds the fastest century in IPL history, Suryavanshi holds the second-fastest. Gayle hit a 30-ball ton while playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. On the other hand, Suryavanshi hit his ton off 35 deliveries.

4. Suryavanshi Has an Incredible Social Media Following

While Suryavanshi has an incredible amount of real-life followers, he has an impressive social media presence.

At the time of this writing, the 15-year-old has over three million followers on Instagram.

5. Suryavanshi Can Help India Break World Cup Record

Suryavanshi recently turned 15-years-old. That means the youngster can play for India’s senior team at ICC events as of a few days ago. While the 2026 T20 World Cup has already come and gone, that is actually good news for India.

The next ICC T20 World Cup will be in 2028. Depending on the exact date, Suryavanshi will be either 17 or 18 years old. He will be a better hitter and stronger than he is now.

And with that in mind, he could help propel India to a record-breaking fourth World Cup.
