Here’s what people were saying on social media:

Keegan Matheson: “Whether Patrick Corbin is ready to step into the #BlueJays’ rotation for a couple of starts while it’s still needed? We’ll see. Regardless, at the cost, it’s a wise move even if it saves this bullpen just once or twice. Can’t have that group maxing out so early in the year.”

Daniele Franceschi: “#BlueJays announce they have signed veteran LHP Patrick Corbin to a one-year deal. Corbin will begin with Single-A Dunedin. The 36-year-old made 30 starts for the Texas #Rangers last season. #BlueJays50”

@JaysClubhouse: “Patrick Corbin, 36, provides the #BlueJays with a low-cost ($1m for 1 yr), high-floor, lefty stabilizer for the back of the rotation who can protect the bullpen, and presumably bridge the gap until return of Yesavage, Berrios, Bieber, etc. While he no longer has the swing-and-miss slider of his prime, his elite durability (a decade of 150+ inning seasons) makes him a potential “innings eater” who can reliably take the ball every fifth day. Showed signs of a late-career resurgence in 2025 by neutralizing righties with an improved changeup. Although his diminished velocity and tendency to surrender hard contact limit his ceiling to that of a fifth starter or long reliever, his ability to provide bulk and veteran leadership makes him a zero-risk addition for a team currently in need of pitching depth. @discussbaseball:Cody Ponce going down definitely persuaded the Blue Jays to ink Patrick Corbin. Thought they may go the Lucas Giolito route…Corbin is more reliable w/ volume/eating innings.”

Ben Nicholson-Smith: “Sounds like Patrick Corbin has been working out extensively in preparation for the season. Up past 80 pitches already. Possible he needs just a couple minor-league starts.”

@MVJUDGE99: “Blew a lead to the White Sox and said “yeah let’s sign Patrick Corbin”😭😭😭”
