As PGA Tour golfer Michael Kim made a big move on the final day of the Valero Texas Open, details of his personal life have remained largely a mystery.
Kim vaulted into the lead with a strong opening to his final round, reaching -14 through the first few holes and aiming for what would be his second PGA Tour victory. The surge into first place gave a rush of attention to Kim, who got a bit of unlikely help from his girlfriend.
Michael Kim’s Girlfriend Gave Him a Free Lesson
As Golf Digest noted, Kim has not spoken much about his girlfriend, but did reveal in a 2023 post on social media that she helped him a bit with his course management. T
“The PGA Tour winner was playing PGA National with his girlfriend, who he says is ‘pretty new to golf,’ when he pulled a tee shot left and into the penalty area on the par-4 11th hole,” the report notd. “Now, as golf fans all know, there’s a lot of water at the longtime Honda Classic venue, but even a golf newbie was puzzled by where his ball ended up with so much room to the right. And Kim wasn’t done getting roasted.”
As the golfer noted, his girlfriend and caddy joined in to goad him a bit about the shot.
“My gf whoâs pretty new to golf rarely asks golf questions but couldnât help herself at PGA National hole 11⦠‘Why did you hit it left into the hazard when thereâs ALLLLLL that grass right?’ ” Kim shared in a post on X. “My caddy heard this and couldnât stop laughing ‘I was wondering the same thing!’ “
