Before the two teams face off, the Dodgers announced that they had made a trade.
The Dodgers wrote: “The Dodgers acquired LHP Jake Eder from the Washington Nationals in exchange for cash considerations. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred RHP Jake Cousins to the 60-day injured list.”
Eder has played part of two seasons for the Los Angeles Angels and Chicago White Sox.
He was picked in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins.

Here’s what people were saying about the deal:
Sonja Chen: “Eder will report to Triple-A OKC, and Jake Cousins is transferred to the 60-day IL as the corresponding move.”
@DodgersNation: “BREAKING: The Dodgers have traded for left-handed pitcher Jake Eder from the Nationals in exchange for cash considerations 🚨
Eder, 27, was DFA’d on March 28 by the Nationals. He pitched for the Angels in 2025, making eight appearances, going 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in 18.1 innings.”
Fabian Ardaya: “So that’s now two optionable arms – Grant Holman and Jake Eder – the Dodgers have acquired today to stash depth.”
Bobby Blanco: “Jake Eder was one of two players interim manager Mike DeBartolo was able to acquire from the Angels at last year’s trade deadline in exchange for pitchers Andrew Chafin and Luis García, who the Nats picked up earlier in the season.”
Remi Bunikiewicz: “Interesting, I am curious to see how long Eder stays on the 40-man. He’s got minimal service time + 1 option year, and there’s some shape work here, particularly with his CH. The release traits are kind of stock except for his extension (6.7 ft).”

@Spiricococo: “A low-risk depth move with roster flexibility in mind for the Los Angeles Dodgers.”
Jeremiah Geiger: “Former Marlins prospect on the move again”
@DodgersTailgate: “The Dodgers are acquiring LHP Jake Eder from the Nationals in exchange for cash. Eder, 27, has pitched in 9 MLB games posting a 4.87 ERA and 5.25 FIP. He has one remaining minor league option year left, according to Roster Resource. To make room on the 40-man, Jake Cousins was transferred to the 60-day IL.”
@NatsRoundtable: “Eder was DFA’d following the addition of Curtis Mead. Now headed to the Dodgers”
