Warriors’ Kristaps Porzingis Free Agency Contract Offer Revealed

The Golden State Warriors traded for Kristaps Porzingis at the early February deadline, and while a mystery illness marred his early tenure with the team, the Latvian big man appears to have finally turned a corner on his health and is now reportedly set to re-sign with the team as a free agent this summer.

Before the Warriors game vs. the Houston Rockets on Sunday, a contest that will finally see franchise star Stephen Curry return from an ankle injury after more than two months out, a new report emerged on the potential contract Porzingis could land from Golden State this offseason.

Porzingis is in the final season of a two-year, $60 million deal and is set for unrestricted free agency in 2026. Both he and the Warriors’ front office have indicated that they plan on coming to an agreement on a new contract after the season ends.

Warriors’ Projected Kristaps Porzingis Free Agency Contract

GettySAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – MARCH 25: Kristaps Porzingis #7 of the Golden State Warriors pauses during a break in play against the Brooklyn Nets during the second half at Chase Center on March 25, 2026 in San Francisco, California.

According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Warriors intend to sign Porzingis to a fresh deal over the offseason. Per the NBA insider, Golden State is likely to offer the center a contract worth anywhere from $18 million to $24 million per year.

“Early talks surrounding Porzingis’s projected contract point in the direction of a deal somewhere in the $18 million to $24 million per year range on a 1+1 type of contract involving a player option,” he wrote.

The idea of the Warriors’ re-signing Porzingis to a contract much less than what he’s currently making this season is nothing new. He has played in just 29 games this season with several major health concerns, and according to the player himself, he knows he hasn’t proved his full worth this year.

“Of course, it would be nice for me to go ahead and say, ‘Yes, I want to continue here,’ and this and that,” Porzingis said, per Nick Friedell of The Athletic. “But the reality is I didn’t have a good year at all. I barely showed what I’m capable of. And so I have to see what’s out there.”

As Siegel mentioned, signing Porzingis to a deal worth anywhere from that $16-$24 million range would be helped by Draymond Green opting out of his player option for next year and taking a pay cut for the next few seasons in what is expected to be the final chapter of Curry’s career.

Regardless, the Warriors plan on making big waves in free agency this summer, and while they expect to keep Porzingis and a few other key contributors, having them return on team-friendly deals would be a best-case scenario for the team.

Kristaps Porzingis weighs his future with the Golden State Warriors

In 29 total games this season, a year of which he started with the Atlanta Hawks, Porzingis is averaging 17.3 points, five rebounds, and 2.6 assists on 45.4% shooting.

In his so far 12 games with the Warriors, those numbers are pretty much the same, putting up 17.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on 45% shooting since the trade deadline.

He was previously dealing with a ‘mystery illness’ that clouded his early tenure in the Bay Area, but over the past few weeks, the Latvian has remained relatively healthy, at least compared to his status through the first four months of the season.

Porzingis fits with what Golden State needs. He offers rebounding, shooting, rim-protection, and while he might be making more than his market value this season, if the Warriors can resign him for less than $25 million per year, he would likely be worth that price.

Granted, he has yet to play with Curry this season, but when that does come on Sunday against the Rockets, Golden State will finally see how their newest player fits with their best player.

Overall, barring the health concerns and injuries, Porzingis has been as advertised in his so far brief stint for the Warriors, and they plan to bring him back this offseason as a free agent.
