Warriors’ Moses Moody Breaks Silence After Surgery With Emotional Message

Moses Moody has shared his first public message after undergoing surgery to repair a torn left patellar tendon, offering a glimpse into his mindset as he begins a lengthy recovery process.

The Golden State Warriors announced that Moody successfully underwent surgery in Los Angeles after suffering the injury on March 23 in Dallas. He is expected to miss the remainder of the 2025–26 season and begin rehabilitation immediately.

Shortly after the announcement, Moody posted a message on social media reflecting both gratitude and perspective.

“I appreciate all of the love,” Moody wrote. “Every challenge I’ve been through in life I’m glad I went through. I’m sure I’ll feel the same about this.” 💪

The post marks his first public comments since the injury and surgery, signaling a composed approach as he transitions into recovery.

Kerr Details Moody’s Mindset After Diagnosis

Warriors coach Steve Kerr had already offered insight into Moody’s mindset shortly after the injury was confirmed via MRI.

“I talked to him today after the MRI. And he’s in pretty good spirits,” Kerr said during a radio appearance on 95.7 The Game. “He’s kind of an old soul, Moses. He’s got a great perspective on life.”

Kerr emphasized Moody’s maturity in handling the setback.

“As bummed as he is, he’s very practical,” Kerr said. “He talked about surgery and how this is going to play out… he’s handling it really, really well.”

That perspective appears consistent with Moody’s social media message following the successful procedure.

Surgery Confirms Clear Path Forward

The Warriors’ announcement provided clarity on both the injury and recovery process.

Moody’s surgery focused on repairing the ruptured patellar tendon, and the team indicated he is expected to make a full recovery, with an update on his progress likely to come during training camp next season.

Earlier MRI results had already confirmed there was no cartilage or bone damage, allowing for what Kerr described as a more straightforward surgical procedure.

Orthopedic surgeon Nirav Pandya has noted that typical recovery timelines for this type of injury range from 9 to 12 months, placing Moody’s return sometime next season.

Career-Best Season Cut Short

The injury halted what had been the most productive stretch of Moody’s career.

The 23-year-old appeared in 60 games (49 starts) this season, averaging 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals, all career highs.

He also shot a career-best 40.1% from three-point range, making 151 three-pointers — becoming just the 14th player in franchise history to reach that mark in a single season.

Moody’s recent performances underscored his growth, including a 23-point outing in an overtime win over the Dallas Mavericks, where he contributed across the stat sheet with rebounds, assists, blocks and defensive plays.

Moody’s absence creates another challenge for Golden State as it navigates a competitive Western Conference landscape.

The Warriors have already dealt with injuries throughout the roster, including the extended absence of Stephen Curry, placing additional importance on depth and rotation adjustments.

Moody had emerged as a key contributor, providing perimeter defense, shooting and energy on both ends of the floor.

Warriors Forward’s Focus Turns Fully to Rehabilitation

With surgery now complete, Moody’s focus shifts entirely to recovery.

His message — combined with Kerr’s description of his mindset — reflects a player approaching rehabilitation with maturity and long-term perspective.

While the timeline remains extensive, the successful procedure and clean MRI results provide a clear path forward.

For the Warriors, Moody’s development remains an important part of the team’s future, and his response to the setback offers reason for optimism as he begins the process of working his way back.
