Watch moment shy Micah Richards is lost for words as he arrives at BBC Euro 2024 studio to staff singing happy birthday

FORMER England full-back Micah Richards was left stunned after receiving a birthday serenade from BBC staff.

The popular 36-year-old is currently in Germany working as a Euro 2024 pundit for BBC Sport.

Micah Richards received a birthday surprise before covering Euro 2024

The former England star was handed some cake

He arrived at the studio on Monday to cover the Group B match between Croatia and Italy, but received a special surprise.

Richards walked through the front doors to a rendition of Happy Birthday before being handed some cake.

As he entered the room, he said: “Oh my God! Deary, deary me,” before covering his face.

The ex-Manchester City star then went on to say: “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Richards joined Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney to cover Croatia vs Italy.

Luka Modric fired Croatia into the lead shortly after half-time, temporarily putting them second in the group and within reach of the knockout stages.

However, the Vatreni’s hopes of qualifying were left in tatters after Mattia Zaccagni scored an injury-time equaliser.

Speaking after the match, Croatia boss Zlatko Dalic said: “It really hurts.

“It will still hurt over the coming days and months.

“I hold my hands up, I am the one to blame if we haven’t made it through.

“I simply want to thank my players for everything they’ve done, it didn’t work out and that’s the way it is.”
