Bears sign third-round pick Sam Roush

The Bears signed third round draft pick Sam Roush to his rookie contract on Friday, about two weeks before the start of training camp.


The Bears have now agreed to deals with all of their draft picks.

The former Stanford tight end was allowed to participate during the team’s off-season program, despite not having a signed contract. He could not have reported to training camp without one, though.

He and other third round draft picks we’re negotiating for certain guarantees, though their salary is set by the collective bargaining agreement.

He is expected to serve as the Bears’ third tight end behind standouts Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet. Coach Ben Johnson is among the league leaders in using multiple tight ends.

The Bears will report to training camp as a full team at the end of the month, though rookies and quarterbacks will show up a few days earlier..

The Feb. 14 Super Bowl in Los Angeles and April 29-May 1 draft in Washington, D.C., were previously set. The NFL announced other key dates for the upcoming season Tuesday.
