Sydney Taylor to play in Unrivaled this offseason

It’s official: Sydney Taylor is playing in Unrivaled.

The Sky guard was one of four players announced today as Unrivaled finalized their 50-player roster. Taylor is signed to a multi-year contract, according to the league.

Taylor has already wowed in the 3-on-3 format as a member of USA Basketball’s U23 team. Unrivaled’s format is different than international 3-on-3, but the bigger court should actually suit Taylor’s speed. It will also force her to improve her defense, a necessary growth point for the AP All-Rookie team selection.

At Unrivaled she’ll be joining several Sky players including Skylar Diggins, Kate Martin, Natasha Cloud, and Gabriela Jaquez (development pool). Sky forward Rickea Jackson is also signed to a multi-year deal with the league but will miss the 2027 season while recovering from an ACL injury.

Season 3 of Unrivaled kicks off Jan. 8. The biggest shift this season is that the league will be playing more games on the road rather than at their primary arena in Miami. Tour stops have been announced in Boston, Inglewood, Detroit, San Francisco, Brooklyn, Minneapolis, Houston, and Philadelphia.

Unrivaled was founded in 2024 by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier as an opportunity for elite players to stay stateside. Taylor initially planned to play with the Turkish club Galatasaray this offseason, but ultimately opted for Unrivaled when the opportunity presented itself.
