<p id=”par-3_36″>Angela Garcia (née Akins) was born in Texas on Oct. 25, 1985. She is the daughter of Marty Akins, who is a former Longhorns quarterback, and the cousin of former New Orleans Saints quarterback <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/inside-drew-brees-new-orleans-home.html/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Drew Brees</a>.</p>
<p id=”par-4_56″>Like her father, Angela attended the University of Texas. She played golf on the Longhorns women’s college team and plays off a handicap of three. Angela later became a reporter for Fox Sports Southwest. She then moved to Florida after landing a job at the Golf Channel. She met Sergio while working for that network. </p>
<p id=”par-5_15″>The two began dating, and Sergio proposed to Angela on New Year’s Eve 2016. </p>

<p id=”par-7_27″>“I thought it was unique that I was able to get married in the same beautiful place where I had proposed,” Sergio told <a href=”https://www.insideweddings.com/weddings/angela-akins-sergio-garcia/45695″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Inside Weddings</a>. </p>
<p id=”par-8_45″>Guests were treated to entertainment by a world-class instrumental musician as Sergio shared, “Our great friend Kenny G is the best saxophonist in the world and he put on an incredibly memorable performance for all of us. It was fun seeing all the big smiles on everyone’s faces!”</p>
<p id=”par-9_10″>There was also a fireworks display during the evening. </p>
<p id=”par-10_34″>“My parents surprised us with an eight-minute-long fireworks show,” Angela recalled. “The lights reflected off the lake, and everyone had such an amazing view … it was my favorite part of the entire night!”</p>
<p id=”par-11_16″>Before Sergio, Angela was married to former golfer Ross Hamann for a short period of time.</p>
