Pete Davidson graced the stage at The Fontainebleau in Las Vegas on April 11 for a one-night-only comedy show, where he opened up about crashing through a family home while driving over 100 MPH.

Davidson, who crashed his Mercedes-Benz in March 2023 in Beverly Hills, California, shared unheard details of the accident with the BleauLive Theater crowd over the weekend. According to the comedian, who became a first-time father to his daughter, Scottie Rose Hewitt, in December 2025, he was driving at 140 MPH when his vehicle crashed through a residential garage.

Pete Davidson Recalls Inner Thoughts When He Blew Stop Sign

“I’m going, like, 140 miles an hour in a 20, and I blew the stop sign, right? Because I didn’t see it. I was going very fast,” Davidson said, Us Weekly reported. “I blew the stop sign, and I had very bad luck. Very bad luck.”

Davidson explained how another driver at the scene “blew a stop sign” at the same time he did, leaving him scared for his life at the time. “Now, we’re about to hit each other, and I had to make a quick decision,” he added. “With the way my luck works, if I hit this guy, he’ll die, and I’ll be fine.”

Davidson continued, “I was like, ‘[Expletive] that, I’m not killing this guy.’ So I swerve out of the way, right? You’re in a residential [area], you gotta make decisions very fast.”

The “Saturday Night Live” alum went on to explain that in the blink of an eye, he feared he would become that person in the news whose body was wrapped around a tree.

“I’ve seen people dead wrapped around trees, right? We all have,” he continued. “I didn’t want to be a tree death. [Expletive] that. Every year on the day you died, they gather around the tree. All the [expletive] Yankee Candles. Goddamn headshots. They sing songs… I didn’t want that.”

While elaborating on his two options of either hitting a “very big tree” or crashing into a house, Davidson said that crashing into a residential home seemed like the safer option for everyone involved, including his then-girlfriend, actress Chase Sui Wonders.

“I’ve never seen someone dead wrapped around a house before. I was like, ‘I don’t think you can wrap around the house.’ I think you just go through [the] house, right? So I aim for the house,” Davidson recalled. “I skipped over the curb, and I slammed right into it. I slammed right into the garage and I went through the garage, which is pretty good. That’s where cars go.”

Davidson went on to joke about his life-changing car accident, sharing how proud he was that he was sober while behind the wheel. “Then, I weirdly got calm. I got very calm because I realized that I was sober,” Davidson quipped. “Then I got weirdly proud. I was like, ‘Good for you. You did this the right way.’”

People reported that after his accident, Davidson entered into an 18-month diversion program and was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service.
