The row between Adam Peaty and his estranged family has been reignited as they accuse him of ‘playing a role’ with the Ramsays.

The Olympic swimmer, 31, married Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly, 26, on December 27 in a lavish wedding at Bath Abbey.

While the guest list boasted big names like the Beckhams, it was revealed Adam had uninvited his family to his big day amid tensions.

His mum Caroline, 60, was ‘heartbroken’ at the feud, declaring the couple had ‘cut my heart out’.

Now, a family insider has insisted that Adam is attempting to use his father-in-law’s name to open doors, after changing his last name to Ramsay-Peaty.

‘As much as Adam wants to be a Ramsay, he is not. He is a Peaty,’ they told the Daily Mail. ‘Adam has financial control and is cashing in on the Ramsay name because it opens doors.

The swimmer is set to compete for Team England in the Commonwealth Games this summer with his new double-barreled name.

‘He is playing a role,’ the source continued. ‘Adam may be rich but we have something that he hasn’t and that is brains, loyalty, integrity and family.’

In March, his sister Bethany, 32, shared she made amends with her mum after being the only family member to attend the wedding.

She was one Holly’s three bridesmaids, with family members accusing her of ‘selling her soul’ to back Adam and his new life.

Bethany said she was ‘caught in the middle’ and had reconciled with Caroline for the sake of her two young children.

The Mail’s source added: ‘Money makes for a cold bedfellow. It can’t hold you tight when things go wrong or when you have a bad day. When you live to be famous, you aren’t living, you are playing a role. Fame is but fleeting but family is forever.’

Since the feud, Adam has been embraced by his new family, reportedly calling the TV chef and his wife, Tana, ‘mum and dad’.

Gordon claimed the fallout was ‘self-inflicted’ on the Peatys’ part, adding they had not shown any ‘rudeness’ or ‘ignorance’ towards them after ‘bullying’ accusations from Caroline.

Insisting Caroline and Mark were ‘welcomed’ by him and Tana, he added: ‘We sent a chauffeur-driven car for them to come to the engagement party and treated them like royalty.

‘So, to get that barrage of press was very hurtful. Tana took it very seriously.’

When he responded to the drama, Adam urged people to remember there were ‘two sides to every story’ but has largely stayed quiet about the details.

Tana did share some insight, speaking to Grazia, she explained: ‘I remember saying to Adam’s mum when I met her, “My God, you’ve got the most amazing son. I couldn’t think of anyone that is more perfect for Holly, who’s incredibly emotional, incredibly vulnerable in areas”.

‘She’s funny, brilliant and witty but she also needs keeping in line. Adam manages to do all those things. He’s been through a lot. She’s been through a lot.

‘I remember saying to his mum that, in my mind, he’s perfect for our daughter. I was incredibly happy to meet her and tell her that.’

Gordon said he’d be happy to go to Nottingham and ‘draw a line in the sand’ but was following Adam’s wishes.

‘There’s stuff they need to sort out as parents. That’s nothing to do with Tana and me. But we are very mindful; we want to move on and allow Holly and Adam to continue starting their lives together,’ he added.

He also urged the family to show their son some respect, praising him as an ‘incredible young man’.
