All of the Big Brother winners since the show began as series returns to ITV

It’s official – Big Brother is on its way back as another season launches tonight, with one winner set to be chosen by the end of the experience.

The iconic civilian reality series first aired in July 2000 on Channel 4.

After 11 series and 10 years on Channel 4, the series moved to Channel 5 in 2011, when it was hosted by Brian Dowling. Emma Willis took over as host in 2013 for series 14, but this version ultimately came to an end in 2018.

In 2023, the show moved over to ITV for a reboot hosted by Will Best and AJ Odudu, bringing the popular format back to our screens.

As the resilient show enters yet another season with a revamped house, Metro takes a look at every single Big Brother winner ever.

Big Brother 1 (2000)

Winner: Craig Phillips

The first-ever victor of the UK version of Big Brother was bricklayer Craig Phillips, who has gone on to become a TV personality in his own right.

Nowadays he’s also a property developer and DIY expert.

Big Brother 2 (2001)

Winner: Brian Dowling

This is the first series of Big Brother that former flight attendant Brian Dowling won and, at one point, he even hosted the show, as well as winning the All Stars version a few years later.

Big Brother 3 (2002)

Winner: Kate Lawler

Kate starred in an iconic series of the show alongside big names such as Alison Hammond, Jade Goody and Adele Roberts. Now she’s back in the Big Brother universe to host the new companion show alongside GK Barry.

Big Brother 4 (2003)

Winner: Cameron Stout

Cameron made history as the only Scot to ever win the Big Brother UK series and has since gone on to become a TV and radio presenter, currently residing at BBC Radio Orkney.

Big Brother 5 (2004)

Winner: Nadia Almada

Coming in strong straight after Scot, Nadia Almada became the first-ever transgender winner of the series, and she was later a housemate in Ultimate Big Brother.

Big Brother 6 (2005)

Winner: Anthony Hutton

After winning the 2005 season of the show, Barber Anthony went on to become a men’s mental health advocate.

Big Brother 7 (2006)

Winner: Pete Bennett

Pete was the first Big Brother houseguest with Tourette syndrome and went on to win the whole thing. He’s since starred in several films and TV shows as well as dabbling in music with his band Daddy Fantastic.

Big Brother 8 (2007)

Winner: Brian Belo

Brian has appeared in various shows over the years, including Hollyoaks, stage shows like the Vegemite Tales and Harry Hill’s TV Burp.

Big Brother 9 (2008)

Winner: Rachel Rice

After acting in her early years, Rachel established herself as a reality TV star by becoming the first Welsh contestant to win Big Brother and has also dabbled in a modelling career.

Big Brother 10 (2009)

Winner: Sophie Reade

Glamour model Sophie stormed the public vote at the time, winning with a landslide victory of 74% of the vote after 93 days in the house.

Big Brother 11 (2010)

Winner: Josie Gibson

In 2010, Josie secured the victory and has since gone on to have an illustrious reality TV career, including as a This Morning presenter.

Big Brother 12 (2011)

Winner: Aaron Allard-Morgan

After winning Big Brother, Aaron has since shared his difficult experiences on the show and the aftermath of winning.

Big Brother 13 (2012)

Winner: Luke Anderson

Following in Nadia’s footsteps, development chef Luke Anderson became another transgender winner to join the fold and has spoken about how the experience changed his life.

Big Brother 14 (2013)

Winner: Sam Evans

Sam Evans comfortably won his season of Big Brother and since forged a career in football for himself. In 2024, he captained the Welsh team at the European Deaf Football Championship.

Big Brother 15 (2014)

Winner: Helen Wood

Helen Wood swooped to victory, but her appearance on the show remained controversial, garnering over 1,500 Ofcom complaints over ‘bullying’ behaviour.

Big Brother 16 (2015)

Winner: Chloe Wilburn

Call centre worker Chloe notably took a step back from the spotlight after winning and tried to resume life as normal. In recent years, on social media she has revealed she used the prize money for paying off her mum’s mortgage, braces and doing up a house.

Big Brother 17 (2016)

Winner: Jason Burrill

A movie body double in films like Spectre and Guardians of the Galaxy, property developer and hair salon owner Jason Burrill also ended up being the rather controversial winner of the 2016 series.

Big Brother 18 (2017)

Winner: Isabelle Warburton

Known for her blonde hair and fake tan look when she won the 2017 series at the age of just 21, she’s since regularly documented her life on Instagram to her 72k followers.

Big Brother 19 (2017)

Winner: Cameron Cole

Cameron Cole won the final series of Big Brother on Channel 5 and was part of several emotional moments on the show, including when he came out to his fellow housemates.

Big Brother 20 (2023)

Winner: Jordan Sangha

When the show returned, Jordan became ITV’s first winner. The qualified barrister even started dating fellow housemate Henry, but the pair eventually parted ways after a year.

Big Brother 21 (2024)

Winner: Ali Bromley

Next up was Ali, the psychologist and ADHD coach, who became the first out lesbian to win the show as she scooped up the £90,000 prize.

Big Brother 22 (2025)

Winner: Richard Storry

Last but not least, we have author and composer Richard, who was open about how important his Christian faith was to him in the house. The 60-year-old made history as the oldest-ever contestant to win.

Big Brother 23 will kick off on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm with a live launch and new episodes will air Sunday to Thursday at the same time every day.
