Anna Nicole Smith’s Lookalike Daughter Dannielynn Birkhead Shares Life Update 

Dannielynn Birkhead is stepping into her own identity—and she’s doing it on her own terms.

The 19-year-old, daughter of late model and actress Anna Nicole Smith and photographer Larry Birkhead, shared a rare personal update while attending the Barnstable Brown Gala ahead of the 2026 Kentucky Derby.

Speaking candidly with People, Dannielynn revealed she’s currently focused on her college studies—and exploring where her passions might take her.

“I’m majoring in forensic science,” she said at the May 1 event. “I might double major, possibly, in something regarding culinary, because I love baking… I don’t know.”

While her famous lineage often draws attention, Dannielynn made it clear she’s forging a path that feels authentic to her. 

Her father echoed that sentiment, expressing support for whatever direction she chooses.

“I’m excited for her to just follow any path that she wants,” Larry shared. “A lot of people want her to follow in her mom’s footsteps — and she’s thought about that, and maybe she might switch back to that one day — but right now, she’s kind of wanting to do her own thing with the forensics and the criminal studies.”

“So I’m all about whatever she wants,” he added.

The proud dad also gave insight into her recent academic milestone, revealing she just completed her first semester of college—and did well.

“You know, it was a little bit of a struggle to get across the finish line, like these horse races, but she got the steam at the end, and she pushed it across. She did a great job,” he said. “So I’m proud of her in every way.”

The father-daughter duo’s appearance at the gala is a longstanding tradition.

The Two Attend the Event Every Year

The event holds deep personal meaning for the family, as it’s where Larry first met Anna Nicole years before Dannielynn was born.

Even as she embraces her individuality, Dannielynn acknowledged the comparisons to her late mother—who died in 2007 when Dannielynn was just five months old.

“They always make me feel good, because I love my mom,” she said. “She’s super pretty, and I like being compared to her in the sense of like, ‘Oh, I’m pretty too.’ But I also like being known as my own person.”

“Because it’s always like, ‘Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter,’ and never just Dannielynn. So I’m hoping my look right now will kind of help with that in a way,” she continued.

Part of that self-expression comes through her evolving style.

Dannielynn Loves Experimenting With Her Hair

This year, Dannielynn debuted a bold new hairstyle featuring platinum blonde strands with black tips—something she clearly enjoys experimenting with.

“It’s probably going to be cool and crazy for the rest of my life until I’m like 80 or something,” she joked in a separate People interview. “I got a lot of compliments on my hair, and it made me happy because I don’t mean to offend anyone, but a lot of people are kind of boring… I’m sorry. So, I didn’t think they would like it so much.”
