Axed Sir Tom Jones leaves The Voice co-stars in hysterics as fans mourn ‘huge loss’

Sir Tom Jones left his fellow coaches on The Voice in hysterics after giving an impromptu ‘sex education’ to co-star Kelly Rowland during Sarturday’s episode.

The legendary Welsh singer, 86, interrupted a conversation between Will.i. am, Danny Jones and Kelly to educate the Americans in the room on the UK meaning of the word ‘fanny.’

Joining in after will.i.am joked that Danny’s rap name would be ‘Danny Fanny,’former Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland had suggested that he could rap about said fanny.

Sir Tom was quick to interject, pointing out that the word ‘fanny’ has a very different meaning in the UK.

‘It’s a vagina!’ he explained, leaving Kelly, Will.i.am, Danny and fellow coach Tom Fletcher slack-jawed at what had just transpired.

To many, the conversation served as a poignant reminder of what ITV will be missing once the axing of its most senior coach takes effect next year.

‘Your name would be… Danny Fanny,’ will.i.am had begun, gifting the former McFly star his rap name.

‘But can I say something?’ Sir Tom interrupted, following Kelly’s suggestion that Danny rap about his fanny.

‘Kelly, over here, only women have fannies. It’s a vagina!’ he added.

As the panel broke down into tears of laughter – including host Emma Willis, who could be seen covering her face with second-hand embarrassment.

Sir Tom too, clapped his hand over his mouth, realising what he’d just said.

‘Y’all did not expect a sex ed conversation!’ exclaimed Kelly.

As the moment aired, viewers took to social media to share their amusement at what had just transpired.

This included X user _mr_chambers, who remarked: ‘I never thought I’d live to hear Sir Tom Jones utter the word ‘Vagina’ on national television!’

ConorSlays was left ‘crying’ at the coversation, adding: ‘Danny’s rap name turning into a straight up sex-ed convo and Tom Jones just saying a fanny is a vajayjay on camera…’

‘I’m only watching @thevoiceuk for Tom Jones, and his discussions about “fannies”,’ agreed tomdevenish.

To many, the episode served as confirmation that the broadcaster is making a huge mistake by axing Sir Tom – including OneCrispyGraham, who described the situation as an ‘abysmal travesty,’ and miracles222 who called it a ‘huge loss’ for ITV.

Said Tom_Muzzy_2001: ‘ITV will regret sacking Tom Jones,’ vowing to stop watching the show should it follow through with plans to bring Stacey Solomon on in a shake-up to the show’s cast.

Last week it was reported that Sir Tom had been axed from the show after more than a decade.

In what is described as a ‘revamp’ to the series, ITV confirmed that they would be bringing on rapper Aitch as a coach, alongside former Girls Aloud star Cheryl.

They’ll be replacing Danny and Tom, who are both leaving, and Sir Tom, following news of his sacking.

Meanwhile, Alisha Dixon and Stacey Solomon will be brought on as hosts,replacing Emma Willis, who will now be hosting Strictly on BBC One.

Releasing a statement on social media this month, Sir Tom wrote:  ‘To be clear, I did not want to leave The Voice as I love the show and really appreciate the audience.’

He went on to explain that he had been offered a ‘much reduced’ role, but wouldn’t get his own chair, nor be involved for the whole show.

‘I’m not thrilled about that,’ he wrote. ‘So the only thing I know right now is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job’.

A source told Metro: ‘ITV absolutely love Sir Tom and they’re working very hard behind the scenes to make this work.’

Meanwhile, another source added: ‘Everyone loves Sir Tom but there was a feeling that the upcoming series needed a major refresh.’

‘With Aitch and Cheryl coming on board and Kelly returning with will.i.am, there just wasn’t a seat going,’ the source added.

Filming for the newest series has already begun in Manchester on Friday, and is expected to air next year.
