Balamory reboot already has fans obsessed: ‘Will I be watching at 27? Yes I will!’

Children’s TV show and absolute fever dream Balamory is making a surprise comeback to CBeebies after nearly 20 years away.

The CBeebies show was a hit with preschool kids two decades ago when it made its debut in 2002 before it came to an end in 2005.

Set in the fictional island town of Balamory, a pastel-hued escape, the Scottish series focused on a nursery school and its teacher Miss Hoolie.

Each episode, which also featured different members of the community, would see a selection of songs played by different characters.

Now, following the BBC’s decision to commission Balamory for two new and revamped series on CBeebies, which will air from 2026, fans have been left tearful after getting a first glimpse at the reboot.

Taking to X, Bran wrote: ‘Will I be watching the new #Balamory at the big age of 27? Yes I will!’

Tom also said: ‘It feels familiar and brand new all at the same time.’

Mitchell commented: ‘I’ll be watching! I’m 24 years old & Balamory was a BIG part of my childhood!’

Saffro, meanwhile, asked ‘She’s still got the weather pointer thing, yeah?! (asks a woman in her 20s 😂),’ as Daniel added: ‘These ppl haven’t aged!!’

When the reboot was originally announced, Julie Wilson Nimmo – who plays Miss Hoolie – said it would be ‘bigger than the Oasis reunion’.

This came after a Balamory star revealed her new career, which is a ‘million miles away from kids’ TV.

Kim Tserkezie is best known for playing Penny Pocket on Balamory, but she has added another string to her bow and re-entered education.

After several years and lots of hard work, she’s now qualified as an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor. This means that Kim is able to help clients improve their mental health, using different methods and tools.

Discussing the new series, Kate Morton, Head of Commissioning 0-6 for BBC Children’s and Education, said: ‘A whole new generation will discover and enjoy Balamory as we bring families together with this new update for CBeebies.

‘It will be a real treat for parents who grew up with the show to now introduce their little ones to the brightly coloured world getting to know a host of old and new characters together.’

The original series helped to make stars of its cast, including Julie Wilson Nimmo, who played Miss Hoolie, comedian Miles Jupp, who played Archie, and Andrew Agnew who played PC Plum.
