Walker Scobell is boldly standing up for himself after a deeply unsettling situation led him to make a personal decision. The “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” star, 17, shared on Instagram that he will be skipping his high school prom after several girls believed to be connected to him became targets of online death threats.
Actor Calls Out Threats Targeting Teenage Girls
GettyâJust to let everyone know, I will not be attending prom,â he wrote, as per Variety.
Scobell used his platform to speak directly to those behind the messages, urging them to consider the impact of their actions on others.
As Variety reported, he wrote: âPlease stop sending death threats to EVERY teenage girl who could remotely be associated with me based on their proximity to where I live. Itâs not fair to them or to their families.â
He added a broader appeal for kindness and basic decency online.
âMaybe also just stop sending death threats in general. Thatâs just not cool. Kinda weird, I have to say this.â
Rising Star Balances Fame With Real-Life Challenges
Scobell gained popularity with his lead role in “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” portraying the demigod son of Poseidon at the center of the story.
Based on Rick Riordanâs bestselling novels, the series follows Percy and his friends as they find their place at Camp Half-Blood and face a series of high-stakes, mythological adventures.
The ensemble cast features Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, Daniel Diemer, and Glynn Turman.
Scobell, who was just 13 when he was cast in the series, previously told People magazine that it would be âreally interestingâ to return to school once season 2 had been fully released.
The show, based on Rick Riordanâs bestselling books, first premiered in 2023, more than a decade after the 2010 film adaptation starring Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, and Alexandra Daddario.
Season 2 aired between 2025 and January 2026, with a third season expected to follow later this year.
âPercy Jacksonâ Continues Strong Run With Future Seasons
The first season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” premiered in December 2023 on Hulu and Disney+, quickly finding a devoted audience.
Season 2 followed in December 2025, with the series already renewed for a third installment ahead of its return. The upcoming season is expected to adapt “The Titanâs Curse,” the third book in Rick Riordanâs saga, with a release planned for late 2026.
As the show continues to grow, Scobellâs message offers a quiet reminder that behind the spotlight is a young actor navigating real life, asking for kindness and a sense of safety for those around him.
